FIRE STOPPING –

Our growing trained teams of UK wide installers undertake fire stopping solutions to all service penetrations or voids in fire compartment walls to ensure compliance with the specified fire strategy and Part B building regulations.

Intumescent coatings are designed to expand when exposed to high temperatures, greatly reducing the spread of a fire, safeguarding people’s lives and buildings. The coatings we utilize are the latest in intumescent paint technology that have been developed with sustainability in mind. Suitable for application internally and externally, they are designed to meet industry standards and all relevant building codes.

STEEL PROTECTION – As an approved onsite applicator for all of the UK’s leading intumescent coatings, we can offer intumescent solutions for the fire protection of structural steel. Through client specification, we can offer and achieve 30, 60, or 120 minutes of fire protection. All intumescent coatings are specifically applied to the appropriate dry film thickness to achieve the required passive fire protection and are tested onsite in accordance with our third-party certification.

Intumescent Wood paints are also known as “Reactive Paints” since the paint will react to heat. When subjected to temperatures exceeding 120°C the paint will intumesce, that is to say to swell up to 50 times the thickness of the paint) which then forms carbon layer (Char) insulating the timber substrate slowing down the Char rate and prolonging the burn time to 30 or 60 minutes. We offer industry-leading products to fire protect timber. It is critical that the structural timber frame and cladding of a building is protected correctly so that the timbers do not burn away leading to premature failure.

We are recommended suppliers of Aithon PV33. At ambient temperature, it is a perfectly transparent varnish, with a warm-looking wax finish to exploit the timber’s natural beauty. In a fire, it reacts generating a thick layer of carbon char able to withstand heat above 1800°F, and protect timber structures up to 60 minutes.

Concrete can lose its fire resistance due to spalling, or breaking down into fragments, when exposed to intense heat. This may lead to a direct exposure of the reinforcements and subsequent failure of the structure. Ity is therefore vitally important that concrete pillars and other load bearing structures are sprayed with an intumescent coating.
